To Frog or Not to Frog

To frog or not to frog is a question that many knitters/crocheters have asked themselves when doing a project. Frogging is up to the individual. You may be asking what is frogging. Frogging is when you make a mistake and you have to rip it apart. If the mistake doesn’t bother you then you can leave it and move on. But if it does bother you then you will have to frog it.

No one knows where the term “ frogging “ comes from.

While researching this term, I learned that is called frogging because it sounds like ribbit ribbit when you say rip rip it out.

You won’t find the word frogging in any knitting/crochet pattern but it is a common word in the world of crocheters.

I have been crocheting for a long time but just recently learned this term. I didn’t realize there was a word for taking apart a mistake in a crochet project. I love the word frogging but hate to do it. Sometimes, if the mistake isn’t noticeable, I leave it and move on. But if the mistake is noticeable I will take it apart.

One time I was learning how to crochet a hat for my granddaughter and it was way too big for her and me, so I had to frog the whole project. I was not happy.
