This is a great book for beginners who are learning about herbalism. Ava Green has written a 151-page book on The Art of Herbal Healing Herbalism for Beginners that was just published this year by Green Hopex. This book has many interesting chapters and I am glad that I have this book because I will be using this for years to come. In this book you will learn about the following Gifts of Mother Nature; Learning the Ropes; Most Effective Herbs to Know, Grow and Use; Your own medicine garden and home Apothecary which include Harvesting and Processing; Harnessing the Essence of Herbs; 71 Ailments and Herbal Remedies; Handy Herbal Recipes and Mixtures; Stay Safe; and the Conclusion. One of the chapters you will read is a list of herbs and gives you information on how to use them. Another part is on an ailment and what herb to use and how to use it. For example, if you have anemia then make a nettle infusion and drink 3 cups a day. If you don’t know how to make an infusion, Ava Green explains the procedure in this book. If you want to know what first aid herbs to have on hand then read the section on that in this very informative book. I love that in this book you can learn the definitions of the herb language. In this book you will learn how to make your own infusions; decoctions; tinctures; syrups; infused oils; essential oils; tonic wines; poultices; ointments; creams; compresses; powders, capsules, and pills; steam inhalations; and mouth gargles and washes. I will definitely be coming back to this section of the book. Since I have chronic earaches, I will be using this recipe in the future. So for earaches, you can use lavender, garlic, or mullein. The remedy is to place a couple of drops of lavender essential oil on a cotton ball and place it in the affected ear for at least 10-15 minutes. You can also use garlic and mullein oil the same way. Just don’t put undulated oil on the skin. In this informative book, you will find a list of herbs, and with each herb you will read what the herb is native to; the description of the herb; its main components; the medicinal actions; the main uses; parts used; the practical uses; and the most important the safety precautions. Since I want to be a herbalist in two years this is a great beginner book for me. I knew how to make a tincture and hot tea but I will be learning so much more. I will be studying this book for years. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to learn about herbs.
